Random Beach Trip

On Friday I was sitting in my computer chair reading blogs and I randomly picked up the phone and called my friend asking if she wanted to go to the beach. Completely spur of the moment. I got the kids ready and stuff packed and we were at my friends house around 1:35 p.m. We got lost but thankfully made it anyway. Words cannot explain how much fun it was. The kids could not contain their excitement. Neither could we. :) Once we made it there it was time for fun. It could not have been a more beautiful day. It even rained for about 10 minutes. Dark clouds but no thunder or lightning. It was amazing to stand in the ocean with rain coming down on top of us at the same time. We even saw a rainbow which I will point out in the photo. So here it is. Our random trip to the beach with 4 kids.

We are finally there!! It took us 3 hours since we got lost. Every 5 minutes for 2 hours straight the kids asked if we were there yet.

Run!!

Group shot!!!

The last time we went to the beach the boy was so afraid of the water. He eventually put his feet in but spent most of his time in the sand. NOT this time. He ran full force into the water and did not want to come out. I thought I was going to have to stop him from swimming out to an oil rig he was so mesmerized.

The boys swim shorts are a little big on him and they kept filling up with water. He took his shirt off and his swim shorts kept falling down. All the way down. So I ran back to the van and got some of his stretchy regular shorts and they did not fall down once. He was thrilled to be able to run without losing his pants. This is when it was starting to rain.

Macie got tired after the first two hours so she went and tried to take a nap.

Now here is the rainbow shot. You have to look VERY closely because it did not show up very bright in the photo. It was gorgeous. Right over the ocean after a good 10-15 minutes of rain. BEAUTIFUL!!

Sand castle time!!

Mermaids!!

You would not believe the amount of sand that got EVERYWHERE! My poor van may never recover. But it was so worth it.

  2. What fun, and great photos of the kids. I love the ocean and someday would love to live in Maine right on the coast.

  3. Baby powder works wonders on getting sand off kids.

Use baby powder (cheapest works the same) for sandy hands and especially sandy feet at the beach. You know how hard it is to get all the sand free from your toes and feet, legs, your hands. It just seems to cling there, even though you have rinsed in the water and towel dried them. And your feet still feel gritty in your sandals or sneakers. Well, after you towel dry really well, sprinkle baby powder on them and rub it in. It immediately removes all excess sand from your body.

This is especially well when trying to get your children ready to pack up at the beach and go home. And most children, like adults, hate that sand feeling in their sneakers. The baby powder really works. You really only use a sprinkle. It helps with them tracking sand into the house after a day at the beach. Baby powder is a must have in my beach bag. Try it, you will never go to the beach without it again.
