I just posted about the morning of competition but I'm having to break it down a few photos at a time because of my Internet service. So here's the pool shots I took before we got ready and headed out to compete.

State comp. road trip PART 3
Last night I typed out a big huge post and because my service is soooo bad out here it got deleted after it tried to post for 7 hours. So I'm going to break it up into a much smaller post and only do a few pics at a time.
The morning of competition we woke up early, showered and went down to breakfast. Since we had gotten to the hotel so late the pool was already closed. The kids REALLY wanted to swim but the pool wasn't supposed to open until 10:00 am. All the girls had to be on their way to competition by then so my besties hubby went to the front desk and told them we had 3 little cheerleaders who really wanted to swim. They said absolutely no problem at all and let us open the pool after we were done with breakfast around 8:00. The kids got to swim and we were the only ones out there for 90% of the time!
Here's a few photos until I post more.

State Comp. road trip PART 2
We got to the hotel around 11:00 Friday night. One of our other friends also got to go because her daughter placed in regionals as well. So all 3 of us won that day and it was awesome to know we would all travel together. We left the hotel up to her and simply told her to let us know how much we owed and where to go. She reserved all 3 rooms. She choose WELL. Better than well. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites. It was sooooo great. We were all so surprised and none of us wanted to leave it Saturday.
Once we got there Friday night the mad scramble began to get everything up and unloaded. Room shuffles began as well and my besties daughter begged to sleep in mine and Makaylas room. She got her wish. A little after midnight the girls fell asleep.
My bestie went downstairs to the van and sent me a pic of a coffee bar by the desk. We went back down almost immediately. The BEST coffee I've ever had. We had such a great nights sleep. Best $$ we could have spent on a hotel.
State competition road trip! PART 1
This weekend was our State Cheerleading Competition. The girls got 2nd at regionals so they earned their place at state. My bestfriend (from kindergarten) also got to go since her daughter got 1st at regionals in her division. We decided to road trip together!! It was AMAZING! She brought her husband and 4 kids and then it was Makayla and me. It was a 5 hour one way trip. I have SO much to share about this but I'm gonna have to break it up into at least 2-3 posts. I'm gonna start with the ride up there.
They came to pick us up and when they pulled up we were so excited to see they had written the girls names and cheer stuff all over their van windows. SO cool. I wish I had gotten pics because it rained almost right after and washed off. (More on that in a second.)
So we pack up and get going and less than a block from my house we hit traffic. 5:00 pm on Friday with construction traffic. We set the van to track our mileage. 10.2 miles in 70 minutes. Yes 70 minutes. It started raining and I couldn't get out so I had my bestie take one pic of the writing from the inside lol. Better than nothing right?
We finally clear traffic a little and by then it was around 6:30 and everyone was starving. We had at least 4 hours ahead of us still to get there so we stopped to eat. Best Mexican food restaurant EVER. A little pricey but worth every single penny. We ordered and less than 10 minutes later our food arrived. We kept saying no way is that ours already. And let me tell you it was beyond fantastic. I've grown up on Mexican food and it may have been the best I've ever had. We were all so stuffed after we couldn't move.
We took care of bathroom breaks and got everyone locked and loaded and headed out for our remaining 4 hour drive. It was so pretty the whole drive. We made it to our awesome hotel around 11:00 pm.
I'm gonna end this post with these pics of the way up there and then start with our hotel in my next post.

Road Trip #2! Out of state!!!
This is going to be a long post but I want to get it all down before I forget things. This past weekend my mom and aunt kept all 3 kids for an ENTIRE weekend. My birthday is later this month and I had told them all I wanted was a weekend away. So I was blessed enough to have them say yes.
I can't believe I am going to admit this but I am about to turn 27 and until this past weekend I had never been out of our state. Ever. I didn't go on vacations as a kid and hubby and I have never had a chance to get away. So to leave the state was a big deal to me. We went to Louisiana. I had every intention of taking tons of photos. But the first one I took was at Waffle House on the way there and the cook there got on my nerves by making a big deal about my photo. He was joking around but it irritated me so I stopped taking pics of everything.
The first thing we did when we got to Louisiana was hit the casinos. We stayed at the first one for about an hour, doubled our money and walked away. Then we went to another one and stayed about 4 hours. I learned to play Blackjack and was able to play for 3 hours on $20 before I lost it all. But it was FUN!! Well worth the $20.
After that casino we went to find a hotel. $38.99 a night sounded good to us. It was GHETTO. But we laughed and went back to the room to watch some tv. We spent a few hours watching a movie and laying around before heading to a cajun restaurant to eat dinner. The best SHRIMP EVER!! And I had a hurricane that knocked my socks off. We went back to the room a while and then decided to get dressed (it was about 10:00 p.m by then ) and find some more casinos. We drove around a while looking for a good one and then decided to go back to the one we had spent most of our time at earlier in the day. We stayed until about 2:00 a.m and lost way too much money. It was a lot of fun though.
After that we went back to the hotel, watched some more t.v and then passed out around 4:00 a.m. We woke up before 9:00. After checking out of the hotel we ate breakfast at Waffle House ( again!) and toyed with the idea of driving to New Orleans. We started on the road and ten minutes later decided it wasn't worth the extra 3 hour drive this time. So we turned around and headed home.
On the way back home we stopped in hubby's hometown and drove around with him showing me his old house, school, etc. We stopped by an old civil war cemetery and it was really awesome. I know some might think it is morbid but we loved it. All the history and interesting headstones. I took some pics of headstones and we both agreed that it was ok to do that.
After that we headed on home. About 5 minutes from our house we decided to go see a movie. We saw My Soul to Take which was ok. Not great but fairly entertaining. Then we went home and hung out because I didn't have to pick up the kids until Monday morning ( school holiday was on Monday). It was a great weekend away. I couldn't take pics in the casino but I wish I had taken more of other things. I didn't get any of hubby and I. What I did get was lots of scenery. At least I have something to remember it by.
Waffle House lunch on the drive there. There are no words for how much we love Waffle House. YUMMY!!! This is the photo that the cook embarrassed me with. Everyone else thought it was funny. I did not.

Our little $48.00 after tax room. The guy handed us our remote with the key. An actual key not even a sliding one. Like I said ghetto. But we were fine with it and kept making jokes.

Leaving Louisiana. Blurry photos were pretty common while driving.

And some that broke my heart. Notice the dates? 2 days old. :(

Since the cemetery is over 150 years old some of the areas were kinda overgrown adding to the beauty of it all. It really was a great weekend spent with my honey. So glad we got to have our little getaway. Even if it did take us being married 8 years before we got it.

Mini road trip
I finally found the USB cord. I have some pics to share but first I wanted to post about our road trip before I forget. We found a car that we liked a few days before our accident settlement check came in. The problem was that is was a 430 mile round trip to get the car. Our plan was originally to drive up with the kids on Tuesday afternoon and be back late at night.
Our plans were changed for us by several delays that were out of our control. My mom and aunt offered to watch the kids overnight for us so it ended up being just hubby and me. We drove up late Tuesday evening and got to our destination around 11:30 p.m. We stayed at a hotel and had a blast together. It was sooooo nice to spend time alone with hubby even if it was a very short trip. The next morning we had to be at the dealership by 9:00. We had about 30 minutes to eat breakfast and found this crazy neat little country restaurant. It was beyond delicious. The kind of delicious that makes you want to cry. :) It was so cute and country I had to snap a quick photo.
It was less than 24 hours away for us but it still felt so good. I am very thankful that we got to go on our little mini road trip together. Just the 2 of us. Words cannot express how fun it is when you are driving through the country late at night and the only vehicles on the road are 18 wheelers. We didn't even see anyone inside the gas stations we stopped at along the way.
